Common Problems
Stove & Range Repair Services
Four problems come up again and again. Each one points to a short list of likely causes.
🔥 Stove & Range Not Heating Properly
Heat is weak, slow, or missing in the oven, the burners, or both.
Gas: a weak igniter is the usual oven problem. It glows but can’t open the gas valve. On the cooktop, dirty burner ports or a clogged orifice are common.
Electric: a burned-out bake element, a bad temperature sensor, or a failed control board keeps the oven cold. On the cooktop, look for worn coil elements or a loose burner connection. A breaker or wiring problem can also cut part of the 240-volt supply, so the controls light up while the heating elements stay weak.
Check first: the breaker. Clean the burner caps and ports, and seat the caps flat. Don’t keep relighting a gas oven.
🔥 Burner Not Working
One burner fails while the others work.
Gas: a clogged burner port, a misaligned cap, a dirty or failed igniter, or a bad spark module.
Electric coil: a burned-out coil, a loose plug connection, or a worn receptacle. Swap the coil with another burner’s to test it.
Glass-top: a failed element, a bad infinite switch, or a limiter.
We test the element and switch, replace the one that failed, and check the other burners while we’re there.
⏻ Stove & Range Not Turning On
The display is dark, and nothing heats.
Check first: the breaker panel and any control lock. Turn the breaker off for a minute, then back on. A tripped breaker, a burned terminal block, a failed control board, or a surge after a storm can all do this. If the breaker is on and the range is still dead, call us. Don’t open the back panel on a 240-volt appliance.
🔥 Stove Not Igniting or Clicking Without a Flame
A gas burner clicks but never lights, or lights only after a few tries.
Common causes: food residue, a wet igniter, a misplaced burner cap, or a worn spark module. Let the burner dry, clean the ports, and seat the cap flat. If the flame is mostly yellow or orange, stop using the burner and call us, since that can mean a dirty burner or a gas mixture problem.
Smell gas? Leave the home right away. Don’t flip switches or use open flames. From outside, call your gas utility or 911. Call us once the utility clears the home.
More Fixes
Stove & Range Problems We Fix
Burner Staying On
You turn the knob to off, and the burner keeps heating. Treat this as urgent. A stuck switch is the usual cause. Shut off the breaker on an electric stove, or the supply valve on a gas stove, and don’t use that burner again until we replace the part.
Oven Door Won’t Close
A broken hinge, a weak door spring, or a bent door lets heat escape and ruins baking. We replace the hinge or spring and check the door seal. Don’t force the door shut, since that can bend the frame.
Strange Noises
A rattle or squeal: the convection fan blade or motor.
Constant clicking after the flame lights: a wet or faulty spark module.
A loud buzz from the back: usually a relay or fan.
Ticking before a gas burner lights, or a fan that runs after use: normal.
A hiss with a gas smell: leave the home and call your gas utility.
We find the noise before we quote anything.
Display Not Working
A blank, flickering, or partly lit display is often a failed control board, a loose ribbon cable, or a damaged touch panel. A power surge can cause it, and spring storms and summer thunderstorms in North Alabama are common triggers. Check the breaker first. If the display stays dark with power on, the board likely needs repair. If your range died after a storm, tell us when you book.

Brands

[List only brands your technician actually services.] Brands from the same maker often share parts. Send us your model number and any error code or blinking light pattern.

Touch displays and control boards that read several sensors. Faults show as a code or a blank panel. We read the code, test the sensor and board, and replace what failed. Gas models also bring igniter and spark module calls.
LG Stove & Range Repair
Gas, electric, and induction ranges with convection fans and smart controls. Gas models often need an igniter. Electric models more often need an element or control board.
Whirlpool Stove & Range Repair
Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, and Jenn-Air share many parts, so we diagnose them the same way. Common calls include spark modules, infinite switches, igniter switches, and surface elements.
GE Stove & Range Repair
GE, Profile, Café, and Hotpoint. Bake elements, igniters, surface switches, spark modules, and control boards cover most calls.
[List only brands your technician actually services.] We also work on Frigidaire, Kenmore, Bosch, and Electrolux. [Confirm.] Send the model number and any error code before we arrive. It’s usually inside the oven door frame, on the drawer frame, or along the back edge.
