Common Problems
Washer Repair Services
Four problems come up again and again. Each one points to a short list of likely causes.
🔄 Washer Not Spinning
The washer fills and agitates, but your clothes come out soaking wet.
Common causes: a lid switch or door lock that isn’t registering, a worn drive belt, a bad motor coupling on a top-loader, a failing motor, or a control board fault. An unbalanced or overloaded drum can also stop the spin.
Check first: redistribute the load, don’t stuff the drum, and press the lid or door firmly closed. If it still won’t spin, call us.
💧 Washer Not Draining
Water sits in the tub after the cycle ends.
Common causes: a clogged drain pump filter, a kinked or blocked drain hose, a failed drain pump, or a clog in the household standpipe. If the clog is in your house drain, we’ll tell you, since that’s a plumbing fix.
Check first: many front-loaders have a small drain filter behind a panel at the bottom front. Set towels and a shallow pan down, then open it slowly. Water will come out. On some machines, a drain error code shows up, such as F21 on certain Whirlpool washers, OE on many LG washers, and 5E on many Samsung washers.
⏻ Washer Not Starting
Two cases: the display is dark, or the lights come on but the cycle won’t begin.
Check first: the outlet, the breaker, and whether the lid or door is fully latched. Look for a child lock, a cycle lock, or a delay start on the display.
Common causes: a failed lid switch or door latch, a control board fault, or a blown thermal fuse on some models.
🚿 Washer Leaking
Where the water appears points to the cause.
Front door: a torn or dirty door boot gasket on a front-loader.
Back of the machine: a worn supply hose or a failed inlet valve.
Underneath: a drain pump, a loose hose clamp, or a tub seal.
Suds and overflow: too much detergent. Use HE detergent in the amount on the label.
Check first: shut off both supply valves and unplug the washer. Wet floors can ruin subflooring, so don’t wait.

Washer Problems We Fix
Washer Not Filling With Water
Check that both supply valves are open and the hoses aren’t kinked. Clogged inlet screens, a failed water inlet valve, a bad water-level sensor, or a door lock fault can all stop the fill. Turn off the water, remove a hose, and rinse the screen to test the simple fix first.
Washer Not Agitating
On a top-loader, the agitator may spin slowly, or not at all. Worn agitator dogs, a bad motor coupling, a slipping belt, or a failing transmission are the usual suspects. If the washer spins clothes but won’t agitate, say so when you call.
Washer Making Noise
A rumble or roar during spin: worn drum bearings.
Thumping: an unbalanced load or worn suspension rods.
Squealing: a belt, motor, or pump.
Rattling or clicking: coins, keys, or underwires caught in the pump or drum.
Check pockets and the drain filter first. A roaring bearing needs a pro.
Washer Shaking or Vibrating
If the washer walks across the floor, check these first: the feet aren’t level, the shipping bolts weren’t removed on a new front-loader, the load is too heavy or lopsided, or the shock absorbers are worn. Upstairs laundry rooms and older floors make it worse.
