Ice Maker Repair
Ice Maker Repair Huntsville AL
No ice, slow ice, or a leak behind the fridge. Usually an inlet valve, a frozen fill tube, a clogged filter, or the ice maker assembly.

Common Problems
Ice Maker Repair Services
Four problems come up again and again. Each one points to a short list of likely causes.
🧊 Ice Maker Not Making Ice
Start with five quick checks:
The ice maker is switched on (on older models, the wire arm is down).
The bin isn’t full.
The water valve behind the fridge is fully open and the line isn’t kinked.
The filter is under six months old.
The freezer sits near 0°F.
A frozen water line, a clogged filter, a bad inlet valve or a warm freezer is the usual cause. If you still get no ice after 24 hours, call us.
💧 Ice Maker Not Dispensing Ice
Cubes that melt and refreeze fuse into a clump and jam the chute. A broken dispenser door or motor can also stop the flow. First check that the dispenser lock isn’t on. Then unplug the fridge and clear the clump by hand. Don’t use a knife or ice pick, because they can crack the chute and the liner.
🚿 Ice Maker Leaking or Overflowing
Leaking: a cracked fill tube, a loose water line connection, or a frozen line that thaws and drips.
Overflowing: water runs over the bin and freezes in a sheet, usually from a stuck inlet valve or high water pressure.
Shut off the water supply to the refrigerator and dry the floor. If water has reached an outlet, unplug the fridge only if you can do it without standing in water. Then call us before the leak damages the cabinet or flooring.
❄️ Small, Thin or Hollow Ice
Small, thin or hollow cubes mean the mold isn’t filling all the way. A clogged filter is the most common reason, followed by a partly frozen fill line or a worn inlet valve. Mineral buildup or sediment from your water can slow the flow too. Replace the filter if it is over six months old. If the cubes stay small, we check water flow, fill time and freezer temperature, then replace the part that failed.
More Fixes
Ice Maker Problems We Fix
Ice Maker Frozen Up
Ice built up around the mold or in the fill tube blocks water and stops production. Causes include a door seal that lets warm air in, a blocked air duct or a freezer that runs too warm. Don’t chip at the ice. We thaw the unit and fix what let it freeze.
Strange Noises
Grinding or loud clicking: ice jammed in the ice maker or dispenser.
Rattle: a fan blade hitting frost.
Buzz with no water: a closed supply valve, a frozen line or a failing inlet valve.
We find the noise before we recommend a part.
Ice Tastes or Smells Bad
Old ice picks up freezer odors, and an old filter stops removing taste. Dump the bin, replace the filter and clean the bin. If the ice still tastes off after a day or two, the water line or ice maker may need service.

Brands
Ice Maker Brands We Repair
[List only brands your technician actually services.] Brands from the same maker often share parts. Send us your model number and any error code or blinking light pattern.
Samsung
On many French door models the ice maker sits in the fresh-food section, so a weak door seal or a blocked air duct can freeze it up. We check the seal, the duct and the water path, then replace the failed part.
LG
Models range from basic trays to ones with extra ice features. Common calls are frozen fill tubes, failed valves and jammed dispensers. Give us your model number when you book.
Whirlpool family
Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and Jenn-Air. Water filters and inlet valves cover most of these calls.
GE family
GE, GE Profile, Café and Hotpoint. Many use a replaceable ice maker module, so the fix can be a module swap. We test the module, valve and supply line first.
Frigidaire
Inlet valves, fill tubes and ice maker assemblies.
Kenmore
Built by several makers, so we match the part to the model number on the tag.
Bosch and Electrolux
Frozen fill lines, valves and dispenser faults.
